Ingredients

2 packets butter cake mix jam I quantity Vlevrta Cream I metre gingham orotherfabrlc a toy “varJty” Items


Method

Make cakes according to directions on packet, divide evenly between two greased 28cm x 18cm (llin x 7in) Iamington tins, bake in moderate oven 30 minutes or until cooked when tested. Turn on to wire rack to cool. When cold, place one cake on top of the other, cut carefully into dressing table shape, as shown. Cut circular piece about 6cm (2’41n) in diameter from scraps to represent stool, cut a slice about 2.5cm (un) deep from top of stool to make it slightly lower than dressing table. Join cake pieces together with jam and a little Vienna Cream, assemble on prepared board, spread dressing table and stoo~ with remaining Vienna Cream, making tops as smooth as possible. Cut two strips it to one short piece to make it longer, tack right along the length of this strip about 1cm (‘4in) down from selvedge, then cut strip to depth of dressing table, trim with pinking shears for a neat edge. Draw tacking thread to fit fabric around dressing table, press gathered edge lightly on to Vienna Cream (fabric should stay in position quite easily). Sew two small ribbon bows on to skirt, as shown. Use remaining short piece of fabric to make skirt about 6cm (2Y,in) deep for stool. Arrange toys on top of cake. Note: Fabric will begin to absorb a little fat from the butter after several hours.
